As many Kiwis look to down tools for a well-deserved summer break, we wanted to take the opportunity to look back at the past year and celebrate some of the awesome achievements of our teams and our clients. Even though 2024 has been a challenging year, we were fortunate enough to have helped a number of brilliant clients bring their dream homes to life. We also saw the opening of new franchises and show homes, great local initiatives, and some more awards to boot.
It’s been another year of delivering outstanding homes for clients in every corner of the country, and it’s such a pleasure to have been able to see so many families move into their dream homes in 2024! We’ve also loved seeing our franchises continue to strengthen their local relationships and support other small businesses and contractors throughout Aotearoa.
This year also saw the creation of a brand-new show home in Canterbury. Our standout Rangiora show home highlights spacious and modern living and gives Cantabrians a feel for the quality and workmanship they can expect from Sentinel Homes Christchurch North. The Waikato team (with the support of a generous client) also celebrated a beautiful new build with a 3 week ‘temporary’ pop-up show home on the Waikato River, which saw many locals visit to look around, gather design ideas, and talk with our local team
It’s no secret that it’s been another challenging year, with a tough economy and plenty of uncertainty for the construction industry. That’s why we’re stoked that we’ve seen four quarters of positive sales growth YOY. We know that a lot of this is due to the amazing job our teams across the country do. They deliver by going over and above for their clients and continuing to expertly guide them throughout the entire building process. This growth also indicates that the construction industry (and probably the wider economy) is set to turn the corner in 2025, so we hope to deliver even more exceptional homes in 2025!
We were very happy to welcome two new franchises to the Sentinel family in 2024. Local legend Eric Briggs opened the Christchurch North franchise earlier in the year and has already hit the ground running with plenty of new projects (including the new show home we mentioned). We also saw experienced husband and wife duo Greg and Anna Sinnott open the new Dunedin and Central Otago franchise regions in September, and we know they’re excited to get stuck into more new projects across these regions in the new year.
2024 saw some great initiatives from Sentinel Homes franchises designed to support their local communities. Here are a couple of the standout efforts from this year:
We know we bring this up every year, but we’re always proud to be recognised at the 2024 House of the Year awards - this year picking up eight trophies for our work throughout the country. Once again our Taranaki team took out the regional award as the highest-scoring gold awardee in the region. We also saw awards handed out to our teams throughout Auckland, Waikato, and Wellington. Winning isn’t everything, but as our Managing Director Stuart puts it, “Winning or placing highly not only elevates our reputation in the industry, but also validates the hard work of our teams, reinforcing our commitment to excellence.”
